Effectiveness in the workplace, and in life generally, is based on an individual’s ability to maintain open and effective relationships. In other words, having the ability to connect and engage productively with people whether they are colleagues, clients, suppliers, friends, etc, regardless of behavioural style or situation, and without draining one’s reservoir of personal resilience.
The Mindful Nation flagship training and development program is designed to develop and refine self-awareness and interpersonal skills for people at all levels in the workplace.
This helps people become better able to accept responsibility, be accountable (for choices made), build and maintain strong relationships, become more resilient, and increase overall effectiveness.
The aim of the Personal Effectiveness Program is to lay a foundation upon which to grow the individual, shape the culture, and build the team in an organisation.

‘Soft skills’ are how we communicate and get along, and that starts with knowing who we are, and how we show up.
The program design is predicated on people making small and incremental changes in behaviour that result in overall cultural change. It is very application-focused, with each session providing a series of exercises to complete prior to the next one. This helps develop new habits of thinking and behaviour and facilitates integration of learning.

Wiley’s Everything DiSC® is a personal-development learning experience that measures an individual’s preferences and tendencies based on the DiSC® model. A simple yet powerful model describing four basic styles, it identifies needs-based behaviours, increases knowledge of self and others, and provides an excellent platform for becoming skilled at being adaptable when working with people.
It’s particularly useful at helping us deal with differences in behaviours that may result in unnecessary conflict, and feelings of stress and pressure.
Introducing DiSC® to a team establishes a common language regarding style and behaviours. This helps members of the team feel more comfortable discussing differences in approach, is less personalised, and therefore less stressful. Becoming more aware of what’s driving one’s behaviour, and developing strategies for becoming more adaptable, even in more challenging situations, helps build confidence and resilience, and helps promote a healthy workplace culture.
Conflict in the workplace is inevitable. Differing viewpoints, lack of role clarity, tight deadlines, increased workload, loss of resources, financial uncertainty, stress and anxiety, and the added pressure of working remotely, all play a part. Research conducted by Wiley in 2020 found that two out of every five people left a job as a direct result of unhealthy interpersonal conflict.
The cost of unproductive and destructive conflict is high, in terms of its drag on efficiency, engagement, productivity, and impact on culture and wellbeing.
Everything DiSC® Productive Conflict is not a conflict resolution program. It is designed to help people increase self-awareness around unhealthy reactions to conflict, become less reactive and judgmental, and develop effective responses to conflict situations.
This clears the way for people to engage in ‘productive conflict’ with colleagues around ideas and find alternative and better ways of doing things. This improves workplace results and relationships.
The Productive Conflict workshop can be run as a stand-alone personalised learning experience or added as a module to the Mindful Nation Personal Effectiveness Program®.
